Red Badam Ajrakh is not just a saree — it is a piece of living craft. Each metre carries the rhythm of hand-carved wooden blocks, pressed by skilled artisans from the Kutch region of Gujarat, where Ajrakh printing has been passed down through generations. The Badam (almond) motif — a teardrop form that is the Ajrakh ancestor of the paisley — repeats across the rich red Modal Silk in an all-over pattern that is both ancient and completely modern in its effect.
The Hands Behind It
Ajrakh is one of India's oldest textile traditions, rooted in the Kutch district of Gujarat. The artisans who create these sarees belong to communities where this craft is a way of life — not a factory process. Every block is hand-carved from wood, every dye is prepared from natural sources like madder root, pomegranate, and indigo.
When you choose this saree, you are directly supporting these artisan families and keeping a 4,500-year-old tradition alive.
